Testimonials
A poem by a woman inmate in West Virginia who understood God’s unconditional love, acceptance and forgiveness for the first time after completing The Grace Discipleship Course.

The Paint Brush

I keep my Paint Brush with me,
Wherever I may go,
In case I need to Cover-Up
So the Real Me doesn’t show.
I’m so afraid to show You Me,
I’m afraid of what you’ll do.
You might Laugh or say Mean things,
I’m afraid that I might Lose You.

I’d like to remove my Paint Coats,
To show you the Real True ME,
But I need you to try to understand,
That I need you to like what you’ll see.

So, if you’ll be Real Patient and Close your Eyes,
I’ll strip off all my Coats real Slow.
Please try to understand how much it Hurts
To Let The Real Me SHOW.

Now my coats are all stripped off,
I feel Naked, Bare and Cold
If you still Love Me with all that you see
You are my Friend, as Pure as Gold.

I need to keep my Paint Brush with me though,
And Hold it in my Hand
I want to keep it handy
Just in case that someone doesn’t understand
So Please my Friend,
Love me with a Love that’s True,
But let me keep my Paint Brush with me
UNTIL I LOVE ME TOO!

A second poem written later:

He has forgiven me for all of my sin.
As we walk, I feel so Clean, The world around me, not so mean.
Please, Christ walk with me on each new day.
Teach me to Love, to Laugh and to Play.
You have become my savior and
Forgiven me of past behavior.
For you I have a burning Desire
I’ll never, ever extinguish this Fire.
